The third International workshop on Information structure of Austronesian languages

Posted:2016.02.18

*This event has already been held.

This workshop brings together researchers with a more general theoretical background in information structure (IS) research and specialists on Austronesian languages with a more language-specific, genealogical-areal interest in information structure. We expect this combination of perspectives on Information Structure in Austronesian Languages will yield novel insights on and meaningful contributions to the understanding of both IS in general, and the structure of Austronesian languages.

In this third international workshop, we invite speakers who can provide with theoretical framework for the influence of prosody on information structure. It is cross-linguistically found that informationally distinctive elements such as topic and focus show unique prosody. In this workshop, language specific data of prosodic phenomena will also be served as the object of theoretical analysis.
