Research on Social Cognition Based on SCOPIC: the Social Cognition Parallax Interview Corpus (2019.04-2022.03)
About the Project
Project term: April, 2019–March, 2022
Languages have various grammatical strategies to encode the social cognition of the speakers. In this project, the members develop the Social Cognition Parallax Interview Corpus (SCOPIC), which provides naturalistic but cross-linguistically-matched corpus data with enriched annotations of grammatical categories relevant to social cognition. The analysis of the corpora will enable us to demonstrate the characteristics that the individual languages exhibit in encoding social cognition.
