This resource is an online database of the contents related to
Miandian-A in Chapter 3 of Prof. Tatsuo Nishida’s (1972) A Study of the Burmese–Chinese Vocabulary Mien-Tien-Kuan I-Yu: An Introduction to Burmese Linguistics, a seminal work on the vocabulary created during the Ming dynasty.

*This content is published as an outcome of Information Resources Center (IRC) Project.

This project was featured in a topical article on the IRC website, as quoted below.

In the IRC project titled “Construction of Miandianguan Zazi database,” we released a resource called “Miandianguan Zazi database.” This is an online searchable database of the Miantian language A/B data in the following two research publications that deal with “Miandianguan Zazi,” Miantian (Burmese) – Chinese bilingual lexicons compiled in Ming and Qing Dynasties of China.

– Nishida, Tatsuo (1972) A Study of the Burmese-Chinese Vocabulary Mien-Tien-Kuan I-Yu: An Introduction to Burmese Linguistics, Chapter 3
– Ono, Toru (1967) “Decipherment of the Sino-Burmese vocabulary in the Ching dynasty”

You can search using multiple transcription methods. A special character input helper is available for entering characters that are hard to input directly from the keyboard. Search results can be sorted by various keys.
